Medieval Week 2020 special!
This beautiful gallery wire is sold BY THE CENTIMETER.
It measures around 12mm wide and made out of a high-copper vintage alloy called tombac. The strip is pressed into a beautifully intricate pattern, estimated 0.5 mm thick.
The strip comes by the centimeter rounded up to the next "full square".
It is flexible yet easy to shape to fit as necklace base or headband.
One way to get it evenly round it is to wrap it around a jar.
Perhaps a maidens' crown or base for a cranache-outfit jewel collar adorning your neck? A strip to embroider to a gown or a few centimeter on a bracer?
Imagine weaving pearls into it, or set jewels as you desire!
The metal comes unfinished with original 80 year old patina. It's easily polished but tarnishes over time like any copper alloy would. The strip is not manufactured any more and from vintage stock.
The back is a little rough to the touch and might need finishing if you have delicate skin; a light sanding, varnish to avoid getting green, or textile backing. Salt and sweat will make the copper tarnish so a coating might be a good idea; or wear it on a veil.
The ends are NOT finished but easily managed with a light sanding or filing.
See the example.
The adorned example strip is merely polished and sewn with small sweetwater pearls.
Decorate it as you wish, decorating it with chains and findings or wear as-is.
The price is per CENTIMETER.
Use a measuring tape to see your circumference on neck or head.
One square is about 12 x 13 mm.
It is shipped rolled up in a CONTINUOUS LENGTH carefully packaged.
Shipped for FREE unless you choose the tracked/recorded option.
